To ensure the best results and minimize the risk of irritation, it is essential to follow a specific protocol before and after your AlumierMD professional peel. Proper care ensures your skin heals correctly and maximizes the “glow” effect.
- Use AlumierMD Homecare: For best results and reduce complications use AlumierMD home care products 10-14 days prior to treatments
- Discontinue Actives (7 Days prior): Stop using products containing Retinol, Vitamin A, Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid (AHAs/BHAs), or benzoyl peroxide.
- Avoid Hair Removal (5–7 Days Before): Do not wax, use depilatory creams, or undergo electrolysis or laser hair removal in the treatment area.
- Sun Exposure: Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment. A peel cannot be performed on sunburned skin.
- Cosmetic Injectables: It is recommended to wait at least 2 weeks after receiving Botox or dermal fillers before having a chemical peel.
- Consult a doctor: If you are lactating, pregnant or may be pregnant, consult your physician before receiving any treatment.
AlumierMD skin Treatments results in minimum to no downtime create dramatic and visible results. Treatments may cause slight redness, tightness, peeling, flaking or temporary dryness. Most patients do not not find it necessary to apply makeup, as skin will be smooth, dewy and radiant following your treatment.
Post-Peel Skin Treatment tips
You have just received AlumierMD Peel skin treatment. Due to the nature of these treatments, you should not necessarily expect to “peel”. However, you may have light to moderate flaking in a few localized areas for 3-7 days. You may also experience residual redness, which lasts in most patients from 1-12 hours. It is recommended that you do not apply the makeup the day of treatment. It is ideal to let the skin stabilize and rest overnight. However, makeup can be applied, if necessary. Tonight your skin will be tight and “pulled”. Although you may or may not actually “peel”, it is likely you will experience a light “exfoliation”. It may take 2 or 3 more treatments to target the deeper layers of skin to loosen and “peel”.
