Being able to tell if your skin is dehydrated is important. You want to be drinking enough water to keep your skin appearing youthful and using the correct products.
If you notice changes in your skin, your current skincare products may not be helping to moisturize your skin, but actually be drying it out. Or, you may not be drinking enough water.
Here are a few signs you can look for that can tell you your skin is dehydrated.
Itchiness
You may find yourself itching your skin throughout the day. And, sometimes your skin will become flaky as a result. This is a sign that you are dehydrated.
If your skin is exposed to winds or temperature changes, this can also provoke itchiness and dehydration. This is because external elements and lack of fluids affect the outer layer of skin, causing the itchiness. If this happens, try increasing your water intake to repair the outer layer of skin.
Increased Sensitivity
It is not uncommon to have naturally sensitive skin. You may react poorly to certain products or ingredients that causes your skin to react. But, even if you already have sensitive skin, it will become more sensitive without hydration.
Your moisture barrier becomes disrupted which can lead to increased redness and irritation. You may also find that your skin won’t react well to sensitive skin products as well.
Dullness
Dehydration causes under eye circles to appear more prominently, or your skin may even appear dull. Either way, when your skin doesn’t have its natural glow, it is a sign of dehydration. It may appear dull since dehydration affects your skin’s ability to create new, healthy looking skin cells. So, dead skin cells will accumulate on your skin, which can create clogged pores leading to acne or blemishes.
Wrinkles
One way to keep your skin looking youthful is water! If you notice that more wrinkles or fine lines appear on your face, then you may need to drink more water.
