Great Looking Hair Begins at the Roots

Great looking hair is more than just great looking. Keeping your hair well-groomed reduces hair loss and boosts your confidence.

But, despite all the benefits, and the fact that your hair accounts for a huge part of your overall appearance, your approach to your hair’s health is probably completely backwards.

It’s easy to simply pay attention to the part of your hair that you can see. Yes, it’s important to make sure your hair looks good, that it isn’t tangled and that you keep things like split ends in check, but making your hair look its best, and keeping it as healthy as possible, starts in a place you generally don’t see every day. If you are experiencing hair loss or thinning hair, we carry the SureThik® professional grade hair thickening line. SureThik® is a specialty range of products for weak and thinning hair. All of the products are free from harmful alcohol, sulphates and parabens and developed, researched, formulated and made in Canada by SureThik Inc.

Take Care of Your Scalp

Just like healthy, beautiful flowers bloom bigger and brighter in healthier soil, making your hair look its absolute best means tending to the health of your scalp first.

Here are just a few things you can do regularly to make your hair it’s healthiest, strongest and best looking by tending to its roots and your scalp.

1. Brush Your Scalp

Gently brushing your hair daily helps to keep it untangled. But, each time you brush, remember to gently brush your scalp too. When you do, you help to get rid of dead skin cells that can clog your pores, you distribute the healthy oils throughout your hair and you stimulate blood circulation under your scalp, which brings more nutrients to the roots of your hair.

2. Shampoo Only a Few Times a Week

Again, we devote so much time and attention to how our hair looks that it’s easy to think it should be shampooed often. But when you shampoo your hair every day, you strip away the healthy oils produced by your scalp to strengthen each strand. You’ll also dry out your scalp, which can promote hair loss.

3. Use a Conditioner

While you may have been told to avoid conditioners, the right ones help to return moisture to your scalp after you shampoo. Look for a conditioner that includes plant oils, like rosemary oil, olive oil or tea tree oil, and gently massage all over your scalp as you apply the conditioner.

When you take care of your hair from the scalp out, instead of the other way around, not only will it be healthier and younger looking, it will respond better to everything you do to make it look great, including styling and colour.
