How to Fade Acne Scars
December 10th, 2018
It’s always nice to reminisce about your younger days. Remember all the clothes you wore. And your hair!
But there’s one thing that you still have from your youth that you wish you didn’t. No one likes them. And everyone who has them wants to know how to fade acne scars.
What Causes Acne Scars
Acne scarring and dark marks can happen when the pores in your skin become clogged with dead skin cells, dirt, and oil. Bacteria can grow and form the ‘head’ or a pimple. When a pimple is cleared of the material, it and the skin around it can become inflamed and irritated.
So your body sends collagen to repair the skin. If your body sends too much collagen, it can cause a raised acne scar. If it sends too little collagen, it can cause a crater scar.
3 Ways to Fade Acne Scars
Acne scarring may be one of the most common skin care problems. Fortunately, there are lots of DIY and professional treatments that can make a difference.
- Use AHA and BHA to Exfoliate – AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid. It includes including glycolic and lactic acids, which are common in anti-ageing creams. If you haven’t guessed it, BHA stands for beta hydroxy acid, or salicylic acid, which is an anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Together, AHA and BHA work as a dark spot corrector to promote an even skin tone.
- Use Skin Care Products with Vitamin C – Ascorbic acid, or Vitamin C, fights inflammation, fades stubborn spots and helps stimulate collagen production.
- Get Microneedling Treatments – Microneedling is an advanced cell stimulation treatment. It’s a pain-free process where micro-fine needles are inserted a short way into affected areas of the skin. The needling helps to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, both of which help to improve your acne scarring.
